School Breakfast Programs
“Hope is a good breakfast…” Francis Bacon, philosopher (1888-1949)
Children need to be nourished with great-tasting and healthy breakfasts to learn, participate and play in schools. However, many Canadian children are hungry and poor.
Unlike many of its G8 counterparts, Canada has no national child nutrition program. Compounding this is the fact that more than one in seven Canadian children live in poverty. Children who experience poverty have a higher risk of suffering from health problems, developmental delays, and behavioural disorders.
