Earth Day 2022 Storytelling & Planting Activities
Plant a Seed is thrilled to celebrate Earth Day with special livestreams for virtual audiences of thousands of primary grade students across Canada, featuring readings of Plant a Seed & See What Grows, a children’s book by Roland Gahler. After the storytelling on April 21, Mark Cullen, Canadian gardening expert, will share a planting activity with the youngsters; while Master Gardener, Brian Minter, will share his planting fun on April 22. Quebec-based gardener and educator, Yves Gagnon, will provide a reading of the book in French and his kid-friendly activity on April 22. You’ll find the Zoom links to each event in this Plant a Seed blog.
Apple Donations for Schools 2021
In October and November 2021, Plant a Seed & See What Grows Foundation was able to share wonderful and nutritious donations of organic apples from Natural Factors Farms with public and private schools across the Lower Mainland. Thank you to Natural Factors for this generous donation and the opportunity to promote Plant a Seed’s Seeds of Inspiration educational program:
- 8,000+ pounds of fresh apples
- 50+ schools from North Vancouver to Maple Ridge
- 15,000+ Students enjoyed fresh organic apples!

2019 Women’s Health Show

Thank you to our friends from Kootenay Co-op and their wonderful customers who helped us raise funds during their Earth Day celebrations! Kootenay Co-op offered reusable shopping bags made from 100% recycled plastic bottles for $2 each and Kootenay Co-op matched it with a donation to the Foundation.
Fundraising Gala
When: February 5, 2016
Where: Fairmont Waterfront Hotel in Vancouver
Guests were welcomed to the Gala by the energetic Langley Ukulele Ensemble, and then entertained by the smooth tones of the Max Zipursky Trio during dinner. Our host, Roland Gahler and auctioneer, Marc Bergevin got the fundraising rolling with a fast-paced Live Wine Auction during the reception, while acrobatic painter, Amanda Shaztka created her unique style of aerial artistry overhead. Throughout the evening guests bid generously on the many Silent Auction items – from wines and hockey tickets, to vacations and one-of-a-kind experiences. A spirited Live Auction featuring original artwork rounded out the evening’s festivities.
