Privacy Policy
Plant a Seed and See What Grows Foundation · Effective date: August 20th, 2026
Our pledge on privacy
This policy explains how the Plant a Seed and See What Grows Foundation (“the Foundation,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and protects information about visitors to seewhatgrows.us (the “Site”). “Personal information” means information that can be used to identify you, such as your name, email address, phone number, or mailing address. Where personal information is requested, we explain at the point of collection what it will be used for. We will not process your personal information without your consent, and we hold our team to strict standards of security and confidentiality.
What we collect and why
You can browse most of the Site without telling us who you are. We collect personal information only when you choose to give it to us:
- Program request forms (Seeds of Inspiration, School Gardens inquiries): your name, role, school or organization, email, phone, and delivery address — used solely to fulfill and follow up on your free kit order or garden inquiry.
- Friends of the Foundation and newsletter signup: your name and email — used to send occasional updates (a few times a year, never spam). You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email.
- Volunteer registration: your contact details, skills, interests, and availability — used to match you with local projects and events.
- Contest entries (e.g., the Earth Day Art Contest): entries are submitted by a parent, guardian, or teacher — never directly by a child. See “Children’s privacy” below.
- Donations: processed by third-party platforms [GoFundMe — confirm and name the platform once the account exists]. The Foundation does not collect or store your credit card or banking details; the donation platform’s own privacy policy applies to payment processing.
- Contact form and email: whatever you include in your message — used only to respond to you.
We keep personal information only as long as reasonably needed for these purposes and any applicable legal or record-keeping requirements.
We do not sell your information
We will not sell, rent, lease, or trade your personal information to anyone. We share it only with service providers who act on our behalf — for example, the courier that delivers your program kit, the email service that sends our updates, or the platform that processes donations — and only for the purpose it was collected. If we are ever required to disclose information by law, we will disclose only what is legally required.
Children’s privacy
Our Kids Corner pages are designed for children to enjoy with a parent, grandparent, or teacher — but they do not ask children for any personal information. All forms on the Site (program orders, Friends signup, volunteering, contact, contest entries) are intended for adults aged 18 and over. Contest entries featuring a child’s work are submitted by a parent, guardian, or teacher, and any publication of a child’s name or artwork happens only with the submitting adult’s consent. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, please contact us at info@seewhatgrows.org.us and we will delete it promptly. The Foundation complies with the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
Cookies and analytics
Like most websites, we collect anonymous information about how the Site is used — such as the pages visited and the links clicked — to help us improve it. This may involve cookies: small text files stored by your browser that do not identify you personally and do not damage your computer. Cookies by themselves cannot be used to discover your identity. You can set your browser to refuse cookies or to alert you when one is being set; parts of the Site will still work without them. We use these tools: [list before launch — e.g., Google Analytics, the form plugin, embedded YouTube video cookies]. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Your choices and rights
You may ask us at any time to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by emailing info@seewhatgrows.org.us. We will respond promptly, and we don’t charge for correction requests. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws [counsel to confirm applicable state laws (e.g., California CCPA/CPRA, Washington My Health My Data) and add required disclosures].
Security
Personal information we collect online is protected by industry-standard measures, including firewalls and password protection, and access is limited to team members who need it to do their work. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to prevent loss, misuse, or alteration of your information.
Where your information is processed
The Foundation’s programs are administered by teams in the United States and Canada, so information you submit may be processed in either country. Wherever it is processed, it is protected under the terms of this policy.
Links to other sites
The Site links to third-party services — such as our donation platform, our online shop, and embedded video content — that have their own privacy policies. This policy applies only to seewhatgrows.us.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version, with its effective date, will always be posted on this page.
