But through it all we have seen a shining light pierce the veil of uncertainty to make all involved gleam with pride. That\u2019s right, through the support of our partners and hardworking team behind the scenes our Foundation is happy to say that we\u2019ve reach more than 115,000 students (and counting!) across Canada.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Below is a recap of what we have been able to accomplish in 2020 via the contributions made from organizations (households included!) like yours. In reading below you will find how your own donations can make a positive difference in the lives of children who need it most.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>How the Plant a Seed &amp; See What Grows Foundation Was Able to Exceed Goals in 2020 and How You Can Help Us Do Even More in 2021<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Seeds of Inspiration (SOI) and Plant a Seed &#8211; Read!<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Plant a Seed\u2019s goal at the start of 2020 was to push past the 94,000 students we had already reached through our educational programs including our <a href=\"https:\/\/seewhatgrows.org\/seeds-of-inspiration\/\"><em>Seeds of Inspiration (SOI)<\/em><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/seewhatgrows.org\/plantaseed-read\/\"><em>Plant a Seed &#8211; Read!<\/em><\/a> as well as funding <a href=\"https:\/\/seewhatgrows.org\/our-causes\/community-gardens-seed-preservation\/\">school garden projects<\/a> \u2013 and then the COVID pandemic changed life across Canada and around the world!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through SOI and <em>Plant a Seed &#8211; Read!<\/em> we were able to accomplish the following despite the challenges we all faced:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>With SOI we reached over 116,000 primary grade students from more than 1,800 schools across Canada by December 2020. <\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>With Plant a Seed &#8211; Read! we reached out to more than 1,000 libraries across Canada.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>School Garden Projects<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"523\" src=\"https:\/\/seewhatgrows.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Where-to-Donate-in-Canada-1024x523.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-31698\" srcset=\"https:\/\/seewhatgrows.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Where-to-Donate-in-Canada-1024x523.png 1024w, https:\/\/seewhatgrows.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Where-to-Donate-in-Canada-300x153.png 300w, https:\/\/seewhatgrows.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Where-to-Donate-in-Canada-768x392.png 768w, https:\/\/seewhatgrows.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Where-to-Donate-in-Canada-1080x551.png 1080w, https:\/\/seewhatgrows.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Where-to-Donate-in-Canada-24x12.png 24w, https:\/\/seewhatgrows.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Where-to-Donate-in-Canada-36x18.png 36w, https:\/\/seewhatgrows.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Where-to-Donate-in-Canada-48x24.png 48w, https:\/\/seewhatgrows.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Where-to-Donate-in-Canada.png 1168w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">While SOI and <em>Plant a Seed &#8211; Read! <\/em>plants the proverbial seed for outdoor learning there\u2019s nothing quite like heading outside to get students\u2019 shoes and fingers dirty in the soil!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We have been nurturing mindful children by providing funding to create interactive and fun ways to introduce healthy foods and deliver healthy lifestyle education to children and youth. This was accomplished via the development of <a href=\"https:\/\/seewhatgrows.org\/our-causes\/community-gardens-seed-preservation\/\">school garden programs<\/a> and other outdoor learning opportunities. I like that it is place based education and a provocation for inquiry [\u2026] You could tell a lot of thought went into the nature journal design and lessons [\u2026] Thank you for the opportunity to use your program and thank you for making it free of charge.&#8221; <\/em>\u2013 <em>AT, Teacher, Parkside Centennial Elementary, BC<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>At Home Activities Too<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2020 many households had either chosen or were required to have their kids learn from home. Understanding this challenge, our Foundation made available a number of outdoor learning resources that could be employed at home in their own yards and gardens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Plant a Seed\u2019s series of <a href=\"https:\/\/seewhatgrows.org\/kids-corner\/\">At-Home <\/a><font color=\"#0073aa\"><span style=\"caret-color: rgb(0, 115, 170);\"><u>Activities<\/u><\/span><\/font> are posted on our website\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/seewhatgrows.org\/kids-corner\/\">Kids Corner<\/a>. They include the following discovery activities (available in English and French):\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Backyard Garden Observation<\/li><li>Where did Dinner Come From?<\/li><li>Discover Plant Parts<\/li><li>Farmers Market Scavenger Hunt<\/li><li>Harvest: Seed Saving Time<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These new downloadable resources are available for teachers too. Watch for new activities coming soon. They will be used to support e-learning at home and in the classroom in 2021 and beyond!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>What You Can Do to Help<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Give Generously.
